Can Mac and Linux presenters share their desktop?

The Screencast (Desktop Share) option is available on Windows Presenters & Mac (4.0 release onwards).
Linux Presenters can use all the other features of Dimdim such as Presentation Upload & Share, Audio-Video & Text Chat.

Support for Linux based presenters to share the desktop is on the roadmap.

by when will Macs be able to do screen sharing?? Any idea??
  2. Comment #2 (Posted by fredrik ampler )
Knowing when screen share on the mac _might_ become available would help! I need to sign up with another service until then - for how long is that? :)

This looked to be a great solution - but the lack of screen sharing for a Mac presenter is a deal killer for me. :( I hope that functionality isn't too far off down the road!

I would also like to request a timeframe for Mac desktop sharing. That is a dealbreaker as far as I am concerned.

Mac Please!!! And please inform us by email when its ready.

Not having full mac support is a non-starter here. I've been testing many different systems and was very interested in your platform because it looks so simple and intuitive. If you don't provide mac hosting support, then you're missing out on getting my company to use this.

I too am Mac based. Disappointed there isn't full provision for Mac users. Encouraged that you are working on it. Otherwise, as others have said, you are missing out on an opportunity. Offa

Great work guys, I cant wait till you have the linux desktop sharing support available for this, The UI is intuitive, responsive and ascetic. When this is fully supported on linux and mac, it has to be a live meeting killer! I think this should be a priority feature. Keep up the good work!

Would really like Linux Presenter support he says as he slogs through openmeetings: http://code.google.com/p/openmeetings/
  10. Comment #10 (Posted by Twiztiid )
Surprised no Linux desktop sharing yet since it is an "open source" meeting solution. Really need Linux support before I can make use of this.

I understand that Mac hosts cannot share their desktops, but can Mac attendees view a Windows host who is sharing his desktop? Thanks

Please can you precise the availability date for Linux ? (I would avoid me to switch to another dedicated PC with Windows XP to organize WebConference ... In addition I'm not familiar with Windows)

this would be ast the end of the 2nd quarter of 2008?... MAC desktop sharing *real* soon, I hope? Any further clarification of time? Need a BETA tester? <GRIN!>

2Q 2008 is over, how about an update?

Oh, I was really excited about DimDim until I saw this. ... will look into other options.

I too would use a Mac client, and Linux would be useful too but not a showstopper. Been watching from afar and now that Q2 is over, interested in beta or status of Mac support
  17. Comment #17 (Posted by Lach )
I too am wondering when Mac support is coming... if you need beta testers, I'd use it quite a bit.

please get moving on this... I'd love to recommend this app and write in up for the fall publication, but the lack of a mac presenter for desktop is a deal breaker.... Q@ is long over... what's the realistic delivery date for this feature??
  19. Comment #19 (Posted by Steve )
Mac desktop sharing is here now! Dimdim 4.0 is now shipping.
  20. Comment #20 (Posted by windsordi )
I downloaded and installed the new screen caster for my mac... even restarted the browser tosee it that would help... nada- nothing... still no desktop sharing... error message saves "cannot connect to server" tried this on both my tower and my laptop... no screen sharing. what gives?

When implementing Linux support I'd be very grateful if you could remember folks running 64bit Linux. Thanks

i really would see the linux presenter dimdim is really nice!

    >Support for Linux based presenters to share the >desktop is on the roadmap. This can be read for some time now. Do you already have an idea, when this will be available?
  24. Comment #24 (Posted by kevin )
Without desktop sharing for MACs this service is useless to my organization. It would be helpful to have this flaw posted more prominently. I burned several hours of sorting through error messages until I stumbled upon this set of posts.

Desktop sharing for Mac and its cousin Linux would be great!! Come on DimDim :)
